Ice Skating tuition for 5 years of age and over at Lockerbie Ice Rink.
See dates below.
Learn to Ice Skate classes are on Sundays. Beginners can participate in the new N.I.S.A www.iceskating.org.uk. Learn to skate grades 1 to 8. Within small groups they can access the necessary skills and progress their development with the support and guidance of an experienced Licenced level 2 C Performance Coach who has 20 years coaching experience.

When and Where?
Lockerbie Ice Rink on Sundays during the Ice Skating Club session 11.00 till 13.30.
Tuition is for 30 minutes for levels 1&2, 3&4, 5&6, 7&8.
Skaters may skate and practice for the full session from 11.00 till 13.30.
Level 1&2 group starts at 11.30
Level 3&4 group starts at 12.00
Level 5&6 group starts at 12.30
Level 7&8 group starts at 13.00
Please allow sufficient time before the class to change into your Ice skates, Ice hockey skates are not permitted on this session.
How Much Does It Cost?

NB. Every effort is made to place a skater in an appropriate ability group.
The above timetable is a guideline initially; new prospective skaters will be assessed on their first visit to the rink by Louisa Nairn when a suitable grading placement can be established.
For more advanced skaters above the levels noted, they will be able to access tuition appropriate to their current grading, the N.I.S.A including guidance on the national test program, and also if appropriate jump harness training equipment.

Is skating for you? – If you are looking for an activity that’s fun, a competitive sport or simply a great way to keep fit, skating is the sport for you.

What is on offer? – You can skate for fun and enjoyment at public skating sessions with ice discos or you can learn the skills of figure skating with our qualified coaches.

The sessions are on offer to both adults and juniors. Skates are supplied for hire at the ice rink.

New Skate Aids at Lockerbie Ice Rink

 

New for this winter are our skating aids for children. Lockerbie Community Council have given the Ice Rink a grant to help buy three penguins and a snowman which can be hired to give youngsters help when learning to skate. These will be available for the Saturday morning sessions which are restricted to under 16s. Skating starts at 10.30am till 12.30pm with doors open at 10.15am. The cafe will be open with hot lunches available from 12 – 2pm.

 

The afternoon skating sessions will start and finish an hour earlier than last year on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday 1 – 3pm and Sunday 1.30 – 4pm. Skating club and tuition will be on Sunday mornings as usual. The cafe will serve lunch from 12.30 – 2.30 on Sunday.
